The super-cardioid Sennheiser e906 dynamic instrument microphone was born of a special microphone legacy that began originally with the (now) much sought after MD 409. While many a collector spends nearly 5 times what the e906 costs to acquire an original MD 409, this latest evolution of the 409 style microphone is pretty darn close to capturing the original sound of the 409. With it's flat design that can be hung in front of a speaker, the e906 especially excels at mic-ing guitar amps. However, the e906 is also excellent for percussion and horns. And finally, the e906 gives you the ability to boost or roll off the highs means that you can effectively emulate the most popular variants of this design (boost = e609 Silver-ish, cut = e409-ish) while also having a great sounding new and balanced character to use for capturing that perfect guitar tone.
